President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has said that the move by the People’s Bank of Zanzibar (PBZ) to expand and open branches in Mwanza region will increase economic opportunities for citizens of various cadres.
President Dr. Mwinyi said this on October 13, 2024 when he launched the People’s Bank of Zanzibar (PBZ) branch located in Nyamagana District, Mwanza and encouraged the people of Mwanza to use PBZ to expand the scope of their businesses through loans provided by the bank.
President Dr. Mwinyi added that PBZ is a financial institution owned by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar and is a bank that attracts many citizens due to its services and credit relief.
He has said that the continued good performance of the bank is due to its capital which reaches 2.3 trillion shillings while it is a bank that does more than 1 trillion shillings and is among the seven best banks in the country. He said the presence of PBZ Bank Tanzania Mainland is an important bridge to unite the Union in action.
He said that this action shows how the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania is providing cooperation in financial matters to Zanzibar.
He has assured the public that PBZ is a trusted bank due to the integrity of its executives and good financial management.
He said that the PBZ bank sponsors the Zanzibar Premier League and other sports as well as aid in the education, health and sports sectors, which is a sign of how the bank has planned to help the community.
He has encouraged the people of Mwanza to open PBZ bank accounts and take advantage of credit opportunities in order to rise economically.
