Tanzania has a strong strategy regarding the use of clean energy for cooking – Ambassador Chana

📌 He calls on Tanzanians to live with the vision of President Samia

Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana has said that the Government has prepared a strong strategy for Clean Cooking Energy with the aim of removing Tanzanians from the danger of using unclean cooking energy.

Ambassador Chana has said this in Dodoma City while encouraging the use of clean energy for cooking through the PIKA KISASA program run by the Ministry of Energy.

He said the government continues to create a good environment for access to clean energy for cooking, so Tanzanians have every reason not to use unclean energy.

He said that the strategy for clean energy for cooking is for ten years which provides a guide to reach the goal of 80 percent of Tanzanians using clean energy for cooking by the year 2034.

Regarding the issue of environmental protection, he said that 48 percent of Tanzania’s area is forests, so the use of clean energy for cooking will help the conservation of forests to ensure rain.

“There are approximately 61 million Tanzanians, we are going to 62 million with this large number that we have, if we do not stop using unclean energy, we see how we are going to destroy our environment, we need these forests, so clean energy for cooking is important for the well-being of the environment”, said Ambassador Chana

He added that the use of wood and charcoal has been causing great damage to forests and is the source of unpredictable rains.

He has called on the community to live on the vision of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan by eliminating the use of unclean energy for cooking.
