The Prime Minister emphasizes the use of electronic systems in collections

He wants local funds to be used to implement projects within the council.

PRIME MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has asked financial officers in all Councils in the country to emphasize the use of electronic systems in collections instead of collecting cash.

He has said that doing so will help increase income in their areas and avoid temptations to misuse public funds that are collected for the implementation of various development projects.

He said this on October 5, 2024 when he spoke at a meeting with Temeke District Council employees in Dar es Salaam.

“The issue of income must be emphasized so that we get good results in our councils”, he said, Majaliwa

He has called on the directors of the Council to use local income in implementing development projects instead of waiting for funds from the Central Government alone.

“Stop relying only on central government revenue, we want to see local revenue being used to implement development projects”, said Majaliwa

He has asked public servants to work hard, with integrity and honesty so that the plans and goals of the Government to serve Tanzanians can be fulfilled.

He has said that civil servants are the servants of the people, so they should serve them properly in their areas and solve their problems.

“We want to see you working hard, with integrity, honesty, if you don’t do that, you will lack the qualifications to be a public servant”, said the Prime Minister.

“We are public servants and we are the servants of the people, we have signed contracts to be their servants, we are left with that, let’s go and work, we should visit them where they are, everyone has a responsibility to serve the citizens in their areas”, said Majaliwa

Majaliwa has asked civil servants to evaluate the implementation of various projects in their areas by looking at the progress achieved and the remaining part so that by June 2025 the projects will have reached more than 95 percent of implementation.
