The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has said that the Government continues to strengthen access to electricity in the country where it is implementing the construction project of the Tunduru electricity receiving station whose implementation has reached 50 percent.
President Samia has said this on September 28, 2024 while concluding his visit to the Ruvuma region which was aimed at measuring how much the Government has been able to implement the promises it made to the people.
“Dear friends, the completion of this project will benefit Ruvuma Region, but it will also lead to connecting Lindi and Mtwara Regions to enable them to get electricity from the national grid”, said President Samia.
Samia has added that the Government is making great efforts to move electricity services to every village where the Government through REA has brought electricity to 541 villages out of 551 villages in the Ruvuma Region and added that the Government continues to move services to the townships in the region.
Dr. Samia has appealed to the citizens who have not yet been compensated to delay the implementation of the electricity projects, to delay the implementation as the Government will pay their compensation and added that no citizen has even been compensated.
Dr. Samia has called on government leaders and civil servants to continue providing education on the use of clean cooking energy to save the lives of Tanzanians as well as the forests.
