The Hadzabe and Gatoga communities are one of the few remaining tribes around the world that continue their ancient culture, including hunting activities and a life of eating fruits, roots and various types of wild animals for more than 40 thousand years now living with completely different animals than you might think.
Despite living on the outskirts of Arusha Region and Karatu district, the District Council Government has not left them behind in involving them in various social and democratic programs and programs as well as their participation in deciding their affairs, choosing and being elected to various leadership positions.
More than 35 kilometers from Karatu City, hills, bushes and valleys, Executive Director of Karatu District Council, Mr. Juma Hokororo has come to Kijijini Mang’ola to meet with these Communities and the main mission is to provide education about local government elections as well as to motivate these Communities to be able to participate in that important democratic process and a great stimulus for their personal development.
“I have come to tell you and move you to participate in running for various leadership positions. We would be happy to see the people of this Hadzabe community in various leadership positions. Let’s go and motivate each other to run and choose leaders who are suitable for the development of Mang’ola”, said Mr. Juma Hokororo.
