BoT thanks IMF

The Governor of the Central Bank of Tanzania (BoT), Mr. Emmanuel Tutuba, has thanked the International Monetary Fund (IMF) through its IMF AFRITAC East center for contributing to the prosperity of Tanzania’s economy through various training and consulting programs.

He said that the contribution helps the BoT in implementing the financial policy effectively and strengthening the financial sector in the country.

Governor Tutuba expressed his gratitude on 10 September 2024 when he met the Director of IMF AFRITAC East, Mrs. Clara Mira, who has recently been appointed.

“I take this opportunity to thank IMF AFRITAC East for the continuous efforts to build the capacity of Central Bank employees that have helped solve various economic challenges and develop the financial sector,” said Governor Tutuba.

In addition, he explained to the Director that Tanzania’s economy has improved despite the existence of various economic challenges arising from several world crises.

He added that the economic growth forecast for 2024 is to reach 5.6 percent, which is an increase in economic growth from 5.1 percent in 2023.

“These benefits are based on various improvement strategies carried out by the Government, including improving the environment for doing business in the country, promoting investment, improving the state of the world economy and access to loans through the Extend Credit Facility (ECF) program and the Resilience Fund window and “Resilient and Sustainable Fund-RSF,” said the Governor.

On the other hand, Mrs. Clara Mira, has promised to continue cooperating with the BoT in various economic issues, including the implementation of financial policy, strengthening the infrastructure of financial markets and the management of cyber security in the financial sector.
