The Prime Minister gives instructions for the operation of the SGR project

**He wants the services to be improved **Infrastructure management should be strengthened

PRIME MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has asked the Ministry of Transport to continue to closely supervise the Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) and ensure that the services of the SGR train are improved and the infrastructure is strengthened so that the project can last for a long time.

He said that in the financial year 2024/2025, the Government will develop the transport sector where, among other things, it will manage the railway sector, including the construction of the SGR and the operation of a modern passenger train from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.

Prime Minister Majaliwa has said that on December 31, 2023, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan directed to start the operation of the SGR railway for the section from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma by July, 2024.

Majaliwa said yesterday when adjourning the 16th Assembly Meeting, in Dodoma.

“I would like to inform your honorable Parliament that the high-speed train journeys from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro started on June 14, 2024 and on July 25, 2024 the operation of the modern railway from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma started”
, he said

The Prime Minister has said on August 01, 2024, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan launched the provision of modern SGR railway services from the city of Dar es Salaam through the Morogoro Region to the City of Dodoma.

He said that the train continues to provide services to the people and has contributed to strengthening the transportation sector.

“Specially, I would like to congratulate President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for managing his vision and in fact he promises, he implements, the work continues”, he emphasized

In another step, the Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to closely manage the availability and distribution of agricultural inputs, especially fertilizers as part of the preparation for the next agricultural season and taking into account the geography of the agricultural regions in the country.

Majaliwa has used the opportunity to appeal to extension officials asking them to continue providing education to farmers about the use of the best technologies for the preservation of food crops and the proper use of that food at the family level.
