Mtibwa Sugar Factory to be powered by large electricity

📌 It is of 132 kilowatt voltage 📌 28 billion to implement electricity projects in Mvomero villages

Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Hussein Bashe has said, the Ministry of Energy and the Mtibwa Sugar Factory are in discussions for the construction of a 132 kilowatt power transmission line to meet the needs of the Mtibwa Factory.

Mr. Bashe said this at the beginning of this week during the visit of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Mtibwa factory when he was inaugurating the Sugarcane Watering Dam.

“We have held a small meeting with the Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga to see how the big electricity will arrive here in Mtibwa and after discussion the implementation will start at any time” said Mr. Bashe.

He has added that the initial discussions will open other discussions that will enable the electricity requested by the Mtibwa factory to ensure it arrives in order to increase efficiency.

In the previous discussions, they have agreed that there will be an agreement for the Mtibwa Factory to build the electricity line from the electricity receiving and cooling station.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mtibwa Sugar Mr. Seif Ally Seif has said that the Bwawa project has 6 pumps out of which 2 pumps are working due to the lack of sufficient electricity and added that the existing power line is of Msongo 33 kilowatts while the demand is the power line of Msongo 132 so that it can all six pumps to work.

Member of Parliament for Mvomero, Mr. Jonas Van Zeeland has thanked the Government for providing Kilombero District with 28 billion shillings for the implementation of rural electricity projects in the district.

He added that out of 60 villages that did not have electricity, 48 villages have already received electricity and have been switched on.
