Sugar and cooking oil were seized in Dar

The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila has said that 7 more suspects, bags of sugar and cooking oil have been arrested in a strong operation that took place in Dar es Salaam this week.

Following this situation, Chalamila has announced the continuation of the operation to control the illegal passage of various contraband products on the beaches of the Indian Ocean where he has said that whoever is caught will be severely punished according to the laws of the country.

RC Chalamila has identified the seized contraband products as more than 100 bags of sugar, more than 700 canisters of cooking oil and more than 7 suspects, where he has ordered that all the suspects be taken to strict legal action.

He said that the seized goods had come from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania by boat.

“The boom in the importation of contraband products is causing the nation to lose revenue, but it is also dangerous to human health because these products are not tested for quality”, emphasized RC Chalamila.

He has said that we must protect as we have taken an oath, we cannot allow smuggling in this region, we are very strong for the wider interests of social welfare and the peace of this nation.

Contraband goods have been seized last night through a task force to control the entire network of smuggling of contraband goods on the beaches of the Indian Ocean.
