Chief Government Spokesman, Mr. Mobhare Matinyi, has asked the people to ignore the distortion of information made on social networks by some people and the media that do not follow work ethics regarding the aid given to the victims of mudslides that happened in Hanang district, Manyara region.
Mr. Matinyi has given an opinion yesterday in Njombe in a meeting of the Regional Commissioner with Council Directors and Journalists coordinated by the Department of Information (Information) with the aim of announcing the development projects implemented by the Sixth Phase Government.
“The things written on social networks about the loss of Hanang’s aid are not true and that the citizens who were received in the camp reached 689 from 139 households and of their own accord requested to return to their relatives or their homes because some did not lose their homes but were damaged or got into the mud, ” said Mr. Matinyi.
He has informed that President Samia Suluhu Hassan said after the assessment the government will build houses for all the people who lost their houses in this disaster.
“Every citizen in the camp is given the freedom to decide and when they leave, they are given appropriate aid. In the first phase, everyone who left was given enough food for 30 days, equipment and personal and domestic items, but we have gone to the second phase, where everyone who left their details is sent to the county for aid. where they live and they are given enough things for six months,” informed Mr. Matinyi
He added that the victims are given enough food for six months and sugar is enough for 19 months, there is porridge powder with nutrients for children, stoves, soap, mattresses. Many other interior items except furniture.
The Chief Spokesman added that even those who did not move to the camp have been helped with food and essential items and that food and item aid has reached 2 billion shillings.
The funds collected until December 20, 2023, are 5.2 billion shillings, he said, explaining that the funds have been directly deposited into the disaster account managed by the Prime Minister’s Office.
