The Prime Minister invites investors in the Agriculture and fishing sector

PRIME MINISTER Kassim Majaliwa has met with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in the country, Yahya Ahmed Okeish and discussed various issues including agriculture, fishing and investment.

Speaking to the ambassador, yesterday at his Mlimwa office in Dodoma, the Prime Minister said he recognizes the fruits of the long-term relationship that Tanzania has received from Saudi Arabia, including aid in the health, education and water sectors.

“I recognize the intention of Saudi Arabia to come and invest in agriculture, if they are ready we will receive them and I hope they will make good use of the opportunity to develop agriculture. But we also have fishing investment opportunities for mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. Let me use this opportunity to invite Saudi Arabian companies to come and invest in deep sea fishing because there is tuna fish there.” said the Prime Minister

The Prime Minister has thanked the country for agreeing to buy meat from Tanzania and used the opportunity to ask them to increase the scope of buying more meat and to assure them that Tanzania will continue to provide them with quality meat.

He congratulated the Government of that country for its decision to start direct flights from Saudi Arabia to Tanzania as they will help to strengthen tourism and people going on Hajj.

“I have information that soon, your airline will also start direct flights from Saudi Arabia to Zanzibar. This will not only help to increase the number of tourists but will also enable people going for Umrah and Hajj,” he said.

At the same time, Prime Minister Majaliwa used the opportunity to congratulate the King of the country, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the victory that their country has achieved to host the world Expo 2030.

The largest exhibition in the world, is expected to be held in Riyadh from October, 2030 to March 2031. Saudi Arabia won 119 votes. Other cities that were competing for that position are Busan (Republic of Korea) and Rome (Italy).

Earlier, Ambassador Okeish apologized to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania for the great disaster that happened in Katesh, Hanang district but commended it for the efforts it made to save the lives of the survivors and restore services to the citizens.

He told the Prime Minister that he has met many businessmen from Saudi Arabia who have first agreed to come to visit Tanzania but are also ready to form a Business Council between Tanzania and Saudi Arabia.
