Employees of Muhimbili Mloganzila National Hospital have been trained in various ways to protect themselves and take precautions against fire disasters.
Speaking at the opening of the training on behalf of the Executive Director, Assistant Director of Human Resources and Administration Mr. Abdallah Kiwanga said the hospital has a modern building with the best infrastructure to deal with fire disasters when they happen, but there is every need for employees to be given education and training to protect themselves and deal with those disasters if they happen.
He said that the training will enable and help Mloganzila employees to save the sick, save themselves and property if necessary in the event of a fire disaster.
“Many employees do not know the steps they should take in the event of a fire; also, most of us do not know how we can prevent fire disasters from happening, so I believe this training will help build awareness” said Kiwanga
Inspector of Fire and Rescue Service, INSP. Elinimo Shang’a, has said that many people do not know the right ways to deal with fire disasters due to lack of education on the types of causes that can lead to fire.
“Many people are affected by fire disasters by failing to deal with fire, especially when it is in the initial stages and stop it from spreading and burning various things,” he said, Mr. Surprise.
The two-day training has been scheduled and the hospital management has involved 60 employees from various departments.
