The contractor for the road from Chanika to Mbande must be completed quickly

The government has asked the citizens near the Chanika-Msongola road to Mbande to prepare psychologically and move out of the area to pass the construction of a 3.8 Kilometer long road with a modern ‘Round About’ and ask the contractor to finish the project quickly.

This was said yesterday by the Minister of Construction, Innocent Bashungwa during his visit to Mkoni in Dar es Salaam in which he collaborates with the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila and added that they should move because they are inside the road reserve.

The Minister, Bashungwa has given one month to the Road Contractor to finish due to the negligence he is doing on the project under the pretext of ongoing rains.

He said that according to the law of 1932, it prohibits anyone from being within 22.5 meters of the road on the left and right, even if they have taken the restriction to the Court, they basically have to move and pass the construction.

“Native contractors, use the opportunities you get to build a good reputation for yourself, don’t be ashamed like what we saw here. When people see you taking a long time, they know you’re a bully” He said.

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Chalamila said that the contractor should have been taken seriously for the negligence he caused to delay the project and the reasons he gives are normal and are there every day, contractors know them so he should have been organized.

He said that many serious contractors have already finished their projects and if it is raining, this one should be taken into action by being arrested by the Police and kept inside to explain himself.

RC Chalamila has said that due to the many challenges of the residents of the area, he has organized a public meeting next Monday starting at noon with the District Head to listen to the nuisance, the effects of ongoing rains, land disputes and corrupt leaders.

Giving greetings from the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Regional Head told the citizens that there will be another phase of building high-speed roads to eliminate the traffic problem because there are many citizens on that side.

Chalamila has apologized to those affected by the floods and said President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has instructed him to tell them that there will be another phase of construction of expressways to reduce or completely eliminate the risk of travel.

Some of the concerns of the citizens explained that they lack canals, bus stops, ridges, road markings, the road has potholes and others blamed the contractor for working on the road only seeing leaders.
