The Governor of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila, today visited the city train from Kamata Station to Pugu to see the challenges faced by passengers.
During the visit, Chalamila was accompanied by the Head of Ilala District, Hon Edward Mpogolo, who had the opportunity to listen to the passengers’ concerns and the challenges they face every day.
Chalamila said President Dr. Samia Hassan has seen how they prepared and hung on the train so he has instructed him to follow up to find out the truth of the challenges they face every day, that is the reason for the visit.
Some of the passengers said that their biggest concerns were the misuse of tickets, their difficult availability, the absence of good management in the carriages of students and the elderly, poor toilet services, lack of shelters from the rain or sun, and others asked for the addition of services on Saturdays. of the Train should be found and the exit gate at Kamata should be improved.
Chalamila said that these challenges will be resolved and he has promised to continue making surprise visits to find out other problems and help the people.
Chalamila has asked the contractor who is building the Pugu road from Banana to Ukonga to build side roads to avoid traffic jams.
Acting General Director of the Railways, Amina Lumuli also promised the passengers that they are continuing to solve the challenges they face and that they have already increased the number of ‘routes’ to 8, so passengers are traveling in greater numbers and on time with greater safety.
