Mloganzila Secondary and Primary school students are given a lesson on the use of drugs

Pharmacists of Muhimbili Mloganzila National Hospital have provided education on the correct use of drugs in Mloganzila primary and secondary schools as part of Tanzania Pharmacy week celebrations.

Presenting the topic to the students MNH-Mloganzila Pharmacist Mr. Kenneth Kiboganya said medicine for humans is used for two things: treatment and prevention. In order for a person not to get or recover from an illness, he has to use the medicine fully so that it can work properly.

“Medicine is very important for humans and if it is misused it can cause harm, sometimes it can cause death, so we should not use medicine without following the instructions of health professionals” he said

On his part Mr. Ammar Khamis, who is also a Mloganzila pharmacist, added that the arbitrary use of drugs can lead to a person becoming resistant to drugs, so it is better if someone feels sick to go to the health center for tests because every disease has its own treatment.

“Before buying medicine, you should first go to the doctor to prescribe medicine that will treat your problem, and if you go to the pharmacy to take medicine, you should be careful and listen to the correct instructions for using the medicine, if you use it against the pharmacist’s instructions, you may cause some organs in the body to fail to work his well” he said

Tanzania Pharmacy Week is celebrated every 10 to 16 June every year where more than 200 Primary and Secondary School students have been given that education.
