Chairperson of the Women’s Association of the National Revolutionary Party (UWT), Mrs. Mary Chatanda has said
The community will continue to support the efforts of the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in encouraging the use of clean energy for cooking.
Mrs. Chatanda said this in the city of Dodoma while encouraging citizens to abandon the use of unclean energy and start modern cooking through clean cooking energy.
“Clean energy for cooking is now easy to obtain, we support the Government on this agenda, we will continue to advise it to further reduce the cost of gas cylinders so that many citizens can afford it”, said Bibi. Chatand
Mrs. Chatanda said the search for impure cooking energy has been dangerous for women during the time they are in the forest looking for firewood because they encounter sexual violence and even at times when they are late to return home.
Mrs. Chatanda said that clean energy for cooking will free women and children from various effects including health and violence that they were encountering while searching for firewood.
Tanzania has started to implement the Strategy for the Use of Clean Energy for Cooking which directs 80 percent of Tanzanians to be using clean energy for cooking by 2034.
