Minister of Health, Mrs. Jenista Mhagama has said that the Government’s efforts through the Ministry of Energy to deliver electricity to rural areas are leading citizens to cook using clean energy through stoves that use less electricity.
Mrs. Mhagama said this in Dodoma while encouraging citizens to abandon the use of dirty energy and start modern cooking using clean cooking energy.
“Due to the presence of electricity in villages, now a woman anywhere in Tanzania can cook modern meals using clean energy instead of wood and charcoal which are not clean energy”, said Mrs. Mhagama
Mrs. Mhangama has said that the benefits of using clean energy for cooking go to the family level in various ways, including improving the health of family members.
“When diseases leave the family, even the medical expenses go away and if there are no medical expenses, it means that the energy is directed to the development of the family”, said Mrs. Mhagama.
Mrs. Mhagama has given an opinion to the community to abandon the use of dirty energy due to the destruction of the environment by cutting down trees for firewood and charcoal and thus causing serious harm.
