PRIME MINISTER Kassim Majaliwa has said that the issue of nutrition is an important priority for the Government in facilitating the implementation of development plans and economic activities for communities including agriculture, fishing, breeding and business.
He said this on October 03, 2024 when he closed the Tenth General Meeting of Nutrition Stakeholders at Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza.
He said the mission of the Sixth Phase Government led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan The solution is to eradicate all forms of malnutrition in the country.
“President Dr. Samia has demonstrated her sincere commitment to pay special attention to the issue of nutrition.
A step that has made him a leader and one of the leaders recognized and given as an example in the world for the steps they have been able to take in the fight against the challenges of malnutrition”, he said.
Mr. Majaliwa has called on all nutrition stakeholders to make sure they use the results of the mid-term review report to self-evaluate and take appropriate measures to improve the implementation of nutrition programs.
The Prime Minister has instructed all the regions and councils in the country to use the National guidelines for the provision of food and nutrition services for primary education students and to ensure that the use of fortified foods is included and allocated funds in annual plans and budgets.
“The Office of the President – TAMISEMI ensure that the nutrition agreements between the President and the Heads of Regions are fully implemented and productive. Continue to do close monitoring and provide regular implementation information”, he said
Mr. Majaliwa has asked the ministries, agencies, institutions and public organizations to fully use the guidance of the National integrated plan for nutrition and budget and to ensure nutrition issues are included in the plans and allocated funds so that they are fully implemented every year.
Minister of State, Office of the Prime Minister Policy, Parliament and Coordination, Mr. William Lukuvi has said that the meeting has brought together nutrition stakeholders who implement nutrition issues from the public, private and development partners.
