Minister of State, Office of the Vice President (Union and Environment), Dr. Ashatu Kijaji has said that the presence of Clean Cooking Energy saves the female child from the effects (adhas) resulting from the use of impure energy such as wood and charcoal.
He has mentioned the effects as including not having time to study by going to find firewood and diseases caused by impure energy.
“When I hear clean energy for cooking, I see that it is a good thing that will save the mother, child and even the father who struggles for a long time with the search for wood and charcoal and the effects of using them which are not clean and safe energy”, Dr. Kijaji
He congratulated the President Dr. Samia Hassan for being the leader of the strategy of clean energy for cooking in Africa and adding that the strategy of using clean and safe energy is going to remove Tanzanians from struggling to find firewood and thus spend a lot of time investing in development activities.
He has called on the people to use clean cooking energy to protect the environment, including the water sources that exist in the forests as well as to deal with climate change citing unpredictable rains as an example.
He added that protecting and taking care of the environment will help Tanzanians overcome the health challenges associated with impure energy.
“Some trees have poison in them, when cooking with charcoal it can cause side effects and there are others that emit smoke if the mother inhales the smoke and it affects her lungs.” has emphasized, Dr. Kijaji
