Tanzania electricity is no longer a luxury – Kapinga

📌 In 12,318 villages, only 151 villages still have electricity 📌 In rural areas, connect for only 27,000/- shillings

Deputy Minister of Energy, Ms. Judith Kapinga has said the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has worked hard to distribute electricity projects in towns and villages and now it is no longer a luxury due to citizens using it for economic and social activities.

Mrs. Kapinga said this at the end of last week while launching the electricity service in Mpingi Village, Songea District, Ruvuma Region.

“It is the mission of Dr. President to ensure that all 12,318 villages in the country get electricity through the Rural Energy Agency (REA), we have less than 151 villages left to deliver electricity to them and the work is going on”, Mrs. Kapinga said

He has added that the government is going to erase the history of Tanzanian villages not having electricity due to the fact that all the villages are going to be reached by that energy.

Mrs. Kapinga has said that after the completion of the villages, the government will direct the power of electricity supply to the townships.

He has assured Tanzanians that the government will continue to provide electricity service in all areas of the country so that Tanzanians can improve their economic activities.

The manager of rural electricity projects in Ruvuma Region, Mr. Robert Dulle called on the people to enjoy the opportunity of having electricity by connecting at a cost of only 27,000 shillings/-.

He has asked the citizens to take care of the electricity infrastructure, especially during the preparation of farms where many infrastructures are affected by burning.
