The women’s team of JKT Queens today Saturday emerged as the leader of the Community Shield championship by defeating Yanga Princess 1-0 in a match played at the KMC Stadium, Mwenge, Dar es Salaam.
The only goal that gave victory to JKT was scored in the 88th minute of the game due to a free kick hit just outside the 18th area by Donisia Minja.
Donisia technically hit the ball that crossed the Yanga Princess players who lined up to block and beat the goalkeeper, Rita Akareko who despite the efforts to follow it but the ball was full of nets on the side through her right side.
In the previous match in search of the third winner played at the same stadium, Simba Queens came out on top by beating Ceasia Queens 4-0.
The winners’ goals were scored by Asha Jafar who scored two, Precious Christopher and Satra Shamte who scored herself.
The Community Shield Championship opens the curtain for the new season of the Tanzania Women’s Premier League (TWPL) which for the 2024-25 season will start kicking off on October 9 this year.
