The Sickle Cell Life Tanzania Institute has announced to give honorary awards to recognize the contribution of five people who are among those who are in the forefront of fighting the agenda of breaking the cycle of Sickle Cell disease.
Those who have been cared for have been at the forefront of increasing the power of education and identification of patients in the community as well as continuous monitoring to encourage the strengthening of diagnostic and treatment services including the most advanced and of the highest quality to save and improve the lives of people living in Siko Seli, Tanzania.
The organizer of the Shujaa Festival under the Institute, Mr. Juma Kilaza has mentioned that the recipients of the honorary award are Prof. Julie Makani – Award of Honor for her great contribution to the community of Siko Seli and Dr. Hilda Tutuba – Best Doctor Award.
Others are Mrs. Arafa Salim Said – Award for the Best Hero who attracts other heroes, Mr. Ayoub Kondo Bombwe – Award for a parent who dedicates himself to educating the community through his works of art and Bibi. Veronica Mrema – Award for the Best Writer of all time who fights to inform the community about Sickle Cell as well as various other problems and diseases affecting the country, through her online platform @m24_tanzania Media
