PRIME MINISTER Kassim Majaliwa has asked Tanzanians to provide information to the relevant authorities when they find unofficial products imported, produced or distributed in the country.
He made that call in Parliament yesterday while answering a question from the Living Member of Parliament, Saasisha Mafue, during the live question session for the Prime Minister.
The Member of Parliament wanted to know what statement the government is making to control the behavior of young people who get too drunk during the day, a situation which is caused by the arbitrary importation of strong alcohol.
“The government has a procedure to identify the production and import of alcoholic beverages in the country which is controlled by issuing business permits to suppliers. It also continues to provide education on the effects of excessive alcoholism to protect our youth”, he said
The Prime Minister has used the opportunity to congratulate the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan by encouraging young people to join groups to do entrepreneurial activities. This process has helped our youth to earn their own income and their families.
In order to control the situation, the Prime Minister has said that the Government continues to provide education so that many young people enter into entrepreneurial activities and strengthen the laws of importers, sellers and distributors to ensure that everything imported into the country meets the health needs of Tanzanians.
“The community should help us to identify the production of unofficial products that have not received official permits because they contribute to the production of products with strong alcohol. I call on all institutions involved in youth issues to continue to provide entrepreneurship education, to teach good values to our youth and to give them life skills”, he said.
