PRIME MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has said that the Governments of Tanzania and Cuba will continue to cooperate in the sectors of Education, Health, Agriculture, Tourism and Technology Issues.
Prime Minister Majaliwa said yesterday in a conversation with the Vice President of Cuba, Honorable Salvador Valdes Mesa that took place in Revolutionary Square, Havana on August 13, 2024.
Minister Majaliwa, who is in Cuba for a special two-day visit to improve relations between Tanzania and Cuba, has said that the Ministries of Education of Tanzania and Cuba continue to implement a long-term agreement where many Tanzanians have studied and continue to study medicine in Cuba.
He said that the Tanzanian Ministry of Health has been inviting expert doctors from Cuba to come to Tanzania to collaborate with Tanzanian doctors to provide expert medical services to Tanzanians in various areas of the country.
“We have witnessed several times doctors from Cuba coming to Tanzania to work in hospitals such as Muhimbili, Mloganzila, Bugando, KCMC and Dodoma and all the time they have done their work with diligence and patriotism. I have assured the Honorable Vice President that we will continue to honor that fraternal cooperation”

Regarding the Tourism Sector, the Prime Minister has said that Tanzania has a lot to learn from Cuba as the country has been very successful in promoting beach tourism after having built tourist hotels, road infrastructure, airports and having a good system of vehicles to carry tourists.
“Cubans receive a lot of tourists, it is very important for us to learn the methods they use to attract many tourists from different parts of the world”, he said.
In that session, the issue of promoting the Kiswahili language was discussed where the Embassy of Tanzania in Cuba led by Ambassador Humphrey Polepole has given itself the responsibility of managing the entire process of teaching and making the Kiswahili language spoken and spread in Cuba and in Latin American countries.
