Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko has witnessed the commissioning of power plant number 7 in the Julius Nyerere project (JNHPP) and so far there are three plants producing a total of 705 megawatts that have already been connected to the national grid.
March 2024, Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango said Tanesco will turn on two power generating plants in the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Dam (JNHPP) which will help end the challenge of lack of electricity in the country.
