The government has already given more than 50 billion to pay compensation to people who have built valleys in the region of Dar es Salaam.
The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila speaking in a press conference in his office, Ilala Boma said the government has already given the money to compensate the people who built in the valleys so that they can leave and build elsewhere.
He said that demolition work is continuing in the Msimbazi river valley to allow for the development of the banks of the Msimbazi river and other modern infrastructure.
RC Chalamila has said that through the improvement of the Msimbazi river, a good area will be found for tourism activities and the construction of hotels along the Msimbazi river, so all those who have already been compensated should go and build in good areas and not go back to build valleys.
“It is good to be careful not to build valleys because the rains are still there” said RC Chalamila
They also asked the ward and local leaders to manage cleanliness in their areas to deal with epidemic diseases such as cholera.
RC Chalamila has said that he will make a visit to review development projects and listen to the concerns of the citizens in Kigamboni and Ilala Districts from April 19 to 22, this year.
