The regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila has said that the complaint that foreigners from foreign countries are involved in illegal businesses in Karikoo area, the regional government is aware of it and is working on it by conducting regular searches and providing education related to this matter.
Chalamila said this yesterday at the Karimjee Hall in Dar es Salaam while speaking to journalists while launching the Dar es Salaam Regional Business Council with the aim of discussing the sustainability of indigenous businesses and the policies of foreign investors in the country.
He said that other issues that will be discussed are the entire business system and its environment, the Karikakoo market to do business 24 hours a day because the means of transport, especially regional buses, have already started working 24 hours, so there is a need for other businesses in the region to be done 24 hours a day to promote the economy of the country and region.
Chalamila has said that in order to work 24 hours there must be effective security, lights and financial institutions to organize themselves to provide financial services 24 hours in the market, if the Kariakoo Market starts providing services 24 hours and other areas will learn as well.
They have also discussed the ‘Blue’ economy which is based on fishing, transport, tourism, electricity production, industries that use aquatic raw materials as well as the entire employment system.
He said the Council has agreed to put strength in those areas to promote the economy of the region and Tanzania in general, the benefits of the region using the proximity of the Port to connect with other countries. So it is good to have strategies to make good use of existing opportunities for the wider interests of the nation and the region.
Chalamila has assured the council to continue to improve the environment for doing business, to remove bureaucracy for those who complain, to cooperate at all times with the private sector to go along with the vision of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
